Day 1: NELSON - GOLDEN BAY

We meet in the morning in Nelson and make our way to the Takaka Hill..
Golden Bay is a very special area in New Zealand. Known not just for its hippie culture but also for its scenery which is absolutely unique.. Marble was extracted from here to build the Parliament in Wellington.

Our first stops are the Waikaropupu springs, the clearest springs on earth. Nowhere on earth can you find water of greater clarity than here.

At the northern tip of the South Island we have time to enjoy the views from the café on top of the longest Sand spit on earth – Farewell Spit.

A very fascinating area – at the Road end we walk over green paddocks to Wharariki Beach; voted by many travelers - due to the many rock formations, huge sand dunes and the caves - "most beautiful beach" on Earth.  Quite often seals can be seen here as well.

You have time to enjoy a relaxed dinner at the famous 'Mussel Inn' restaurant or eat at the accommodation place.

Overnight: Golden Bay

Day 2: Golden Bay & return to Nelson

We have time for a stroll in Takaka, the hip 'capital' of the Bay. Further east we explore some strange rock formations before reaching Tata Beach, the first of many golden beaches stretching from here all the way into the Abel Tasman National Park.

You got time to go for a stroll along the foreshore of the northern Abel Tasman National Park and you could even explore a walk into the rainforest to a stunning waterfall.

Then it is back to Nelson, we reach the town in late afternoon.
